More than 2 years later, small businesses continue to recover from the impact of COVID-19. In addition to the lingering public health crisis, entrepreneurs also have to consider the impact of natural disasters on business continuity.

Entrepreneurs who were in business in 2021 may remember Hurricane Ida. It wreaked havoc not only on our homes and schools but also businesses. Were you prepared then? Will there be another natural disaster? Are you prepared now?

During this session, you'll learn how to develop your disaster preparedness plan and create a company culture that allows for innovation and transformation to ensure short-term and long-term recovery and growth. We'll identify climate-related business opportunities, including evolving technologies. We will also explore how climate disasters impact small businesses, including how to differentiate between short-term acute shocks and long-term chronic stressors.

Class Highlights

  • Develop your own checklist to prepare for the next disaster
  • Review your risk vulnerability assessment
  • Review key climate hazard trends in NJ
  • Review climate data resources
