Brand equity is an important part of any business as it creates consumer recognition and brand loyalty. This session, presented by McCarter and English, will highlight the best ways to develop a brand that is distinctive and therefore protectable in terms of intellectual property, so that brands can take this information to craft better product names, designs, labels and packaging.

Attendees will learn the difference between descriptive words versus protectable trademarks.

The program will also touch upon the additional ways to protect a brand including product trade dress, packaging trade dress, copyright.
